Hadrian's Wall Hike Anyone?

I plan to hike the Hadrian Wall trail in the Lake District during the minibreak. Have any of you done this?

I haven't done the whole wall but last time I studied abroad, my class took field trips to the Lakes and Hadrian's Wall. I would definitely recommend it. The Lakes are just beautiful.

I plan on making a daytrip out of Hadrian's Wall on the Saturday before we go to Edinburgh. It takes around 2 1/2 hours to get to Newcastle via train, and I have found tickets for less than $100. If you'd like to go with me, you're more than welcome!

Anne,

Where were you when you went to Hadrian's Wall? What I'd like to do is hike from somewhere in the Lake District following the Wall eastward and then hop on a train to York to see York Minster then back to London. I'm still trying to work out the details.

Well, my class was travelling via bus on the various field trips so that probably doesn't help you much. We hiked around the Windermere area in the Lakes and we visited Vindolanda and one of the other forts along the Wall whose name I can't remember right now. I'll take a look at the pictures tonight to find that information. I was studying at Lancaster University which is only one train stop away from the first stop in the Lakes.
