Computer Question

Does anyone plan on bringing a laptop with them? I am considering it if I can find an adaptor that will work -- I really don't want to fry my computer. I am assuming there are computer labs there, maybe melibrarian can verify?

There are computer labs right across the street from the dorm. They are open 24 hours a day.

I talked to Dell about my computer and they said I just needed an adapter for the plug-in--the voltage will automatically switch over.

Are there any WiFi places near King's college? Is the computer lab WiFi?

Mandy, out of curiosity, what software do you use for your online course? We have used in Blackboard in the past, but migrated to WebCt this past year.

I am teachiing an online class this summer, so I will have to have pretty regular computer access also.

We use Moodle (which I believe is open-source) and I absolutely love it. Wikis, blogs, message boards/forums, all the 2.0 trappings. I'd be happy to show you the interface when we get there. :o)

I also spoke to a man from London who does quite a bit of international travel (yesterday on a plane back from Chicago), and he said he's never been required to check his electronic devices upon leaving the UK. So that made me feel a bit better regarding the laptop thing.

melibrarian,

I've got a Dell too. Are you saying all I need is the plug adapter? I don't need the converter?

There are also new ones around the corner if you are still looking.
